I’m a sucker for a rustic color palette. Bright emerald accents look absolutely luscious against dark wood. There’s something woodland-faerie-like about dark wood and green. Couple that with freshly picked daisies and a view filled with nature’s bounty, your kitchen cannot get any more beautiful.
I don’t know if I would personally decorate my walls with quirky wrapping paper rolls, but it’s such a cute idea! It’s a fun way to decorate without putting too much thought into it which is a huge time-saver and stress-reducer!
Floor-to-ceiling cabinetry might seem a little inconvenient (especially if you’re short like me!), but it looks so majestic! This kitchen has an old vibe to it with the wooden cabinets in that icy blue color and the exposed brick near the stove tops. I love the metal accents to give that little punch of modernity and, of course, I love that easy-to-access storage shelf for all that wine!
This reminds me of my doll house. Everything in the dining room was white and impeccably arranged with white ceramics decorating the shelves. At first I thought this was a boring arrangement, but upon closer inspection, I find it oddly charming. The open floor-to-ceiling windows bring so much light into the room and the long wooden table contrasts nicely with the delicate ceramic plates and cups. Of course, I adore the freshly cut wild flowers resting on the table. Nothing brightens up a room like fresh flowers in bright colors.
This is the PERFECT space. I’m drooling. Where do I even begin?! The bookshelves, the piano (I need to learn how to play), the wood floors, the open windows, the hanging light bulbs, the leather couch and chairs, the two floors, and lastly, the pole that you can shimmy down from the top floor to the bottom floor. A part of the room I am not likely to grow out of. Adorable, sophisticated, and classic. Love.
Natural light, fresh air, body pillow a.k.a. cuddle buddy, and an olive green velvet couch just waiting to be napped on? Where do I sign up?
I LOVE THIS DROOPY BED. There are no other words to describe this bed. It’s droopy. And adorable. It reminds me of Harry Potter. Don’t ask me why. Besides the adorable droopy bed frame, I love the pattern on the comforter and pillows. Even though it’s a lot of patterns going on at once, there’s something antique-ly wonderful about the room. It’s old and lived-in, and just seems so inviting for a luxuriously lazy Sunday afternoon.
I don’t know where you can get a partial staircase-looking installment, but it makes for a great makeshift shelving unit.
I think I’m on a minimalist kick (again) with a dash of nature fetish because I am loving this living room. First of all, that couch looks like it was made out of the Michelin man and for some reason that sounds really comfy and not super weird. Second, I’ve always wanted woody accents every since I read My Side of the Mountain. (For those of you who haven’t read it, read it!) Third, I’m in love with patterned rugs. Finally, the combo of a modern-looking mirror with exposed and slightly decomposing brick is the perfect marriage of old and new. The only thing about this I don’t like is the concrete floor. I can’t imagine walking barefoot on that in the winter, but I guess it’s a great excuse to buy a pair of really furry slippers!
First things first: I ADORE the brightly colored stone walls. My initial reaction was, “What kind of mold is growing on those walls?” My next reaction was, “Exposed brick is so much cooler.” My final reaction: “For a room that large, the colors really bring the room a sort of child-like joy.” Mix that joy with a suspended swing chair with furs and pillows and tons of plush everywhere, all of it comes together in a way that looks presentable without being too fussy. Nothing’s worse than designing a room that has to constantly be clean and orderly to look nice. This room looks like a true living room which should, technically, looked lived in.
I’m not a huge fan of white everything because I often feel like it gives a very starchy, less warm vibe to the room which isn’t what I would want for a bedroom. However, I love the white walls and the white bed because of the darker, bolder accents in the room. I think using a trunk or a pile of suitcases as a nightstand is a brilliant idea. It’s antique-y without being dated, and it’s a great way to incorporate a very useful item into the room. I love the large, industrial-looking clock. Not only will I never forget the time, but it gives a masculine edge to the room. The girly part of this room is the “come with me” light-up phrase above the bed, but I find it inviting and cute in such a balanced room. Though stark at first, I rather love the nuances of its design.
I love the idea of a mixed-and-matched bed. Differently patterned pillows, sheets, comforters, and blankets within the same color scheme is a fun way to bring color into a room and keep it cozy. Though I love cleanliness and orderliness, sometimes you just want the comfort of tons of pillows and blankets without having to worry about what’s in order or if the shams match the comforter. Bedrooms should be warm and inviting! (Or at least that’s what I think.)
Though having curtain partitions for a room may not sound very glamorous, I like the idea of a sliding curtain dividing the room into smaller, more cozy areas. I treat my bedroom like a sanctuary and having the option of closing that curtain makes the “bedroom” more private. Also, I love the idea of a little table and two chairs as a sitting area within the living space. Couple that with exposed brick and a tree trunk as a table, and you’ve made a comfortable yet simple living arrangement.
I love when things are beautiful and useful. Just like this staircase! Useful, but beautiful in that it holds all these gorgeously colored books arranged in this triangular bookshelf. Plus, I’m a huge bookworm so this is a great way to arrange all my favorite fiction without taking up too much unnecessary space.
I never thought that a tropical, Hawaiian-style decor would appeal to me, but this one does. First, the idea of transforming a greenhouse into a living space is a great idea for entertaining. Having guests over in a space like that would invite the idea of eating outdoors without having to deal with bugs, humidity or random rainstorms, or the time of night! I think I love this space because of its earthiness. It’s all so natural and organic. Plus, being in a room like that would make me happy with its quirky surfboards and green fronds. Those chairs also look like they’re whittled out of really large coconuts which makes me laugh!
